Blink-182, Babymetal and All Time Low were among the winners at this year's Kerrang! Awards.

Other names to take home prizes were No Devotion, Cane Hill and Creeper.

The event at The Troxy in London was hosted by Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins and Skindred's Benji Webbe.

American punk pop group blink-182 picked up the icon award with Mark Hoppus and new member Matt Skiba, who has replaced Tom DeLonge, on hand to pick it up.

Speaking in the winners' room, Mark said: "When we started out in small garage in San Diego our biggest hope was to sell out a small venue that we used to see punk rock bands at.

"The thought we would ever come overseas and perform for people is beyond anything we ever hoped for in the beginning."

The band, who recently played at Radio 1's Rock All Dayer, may now be classed as icons but Mark said they've never been approached for one of the most iconic festivals there is, Glastonbury.

"We've not been asked, I would love to play Glastonbury at some point.

"I don't know why, maybe schedules didn't work out."

The awards this year were dedicated to Motorhead frontman, Lemmy, who died in December., external

Other winners included Deftones, who won the Kerrang! lifetime achievement award, while Iron Maiden were named Kerrang! legends and the hero went to Thin Lizzy.

All Time Low picked up best track for Missing You.

The video for the song featured fans being surprised with video-calls by the band.

Singer Alex Gaskarth explained: "Someone from our label told them they would be doing something for our DVD but then it was us on the call, so all the reactions are genuine.

"It was a special video to make, it was a dedication to our fans. I want to go give this to everyone upstairs."

Babymetal were also there, having their picture taken with British band Asking Alexandria., external

For the first time at the Kerrang! Awards, fans were able to attend the ceremony which included live sets from Asking Alexandria, who took home best British band, and international band winners A Day To Remember.

The Americans were so convinced they wouldn't beat the likes of Metallica to the award that they went to the bar when it was announced.

"If I told my step dad I beat Metallica to an award he'd actually like me a lot more I think," joked guitarist Neil Westfall.

The best newcomer award went to Creeper., external

"We're going to go to Disneyland [to celebrate]. We live about 15 minutes away so it makes sense and I'm going to buy a Lamborghini.

"You don't really get any money from this but hopefully credit works. I'll put down $53 and hopefully the rest will work out in my favour."

The guys from Don Broco wore England shirts to the ceremony., external

Surrey five-piece You Me At Six walked away with best event for their Camden Underworld benefit show for The Ghost Inside, who were involved in a tour bus crash last year.

"It's good to win an award for our friends.

"You wouldn't wish what they went through on anyone.

"We're going to be sending them to this tomorrow. When they have bad days they looks at this.

"On their darkest days they can look up and see this with their heads held high and know that there's people waiting for them - we can't wait to have them back."
