Rock On The Range turns up heat on Sunday with Tool, Babymetal, more (photos)

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Rock On The Range finally felt like a summertime music festival on Sunday, with sunshine hitting MAPFRE Stadium all day long.

Fest attendees showed up in tank tops and bikinis to try to beat the heat. Between shows, they gathered in shaded areas and slathered on sunscreen.

It was the final day of the three-day event, featuring performances by Tool, The Used and Babymetal.

Highlights included Babymetal's packed concert, which brought thousands of attendees to the Zippo Encore side stage. It was the largest draw the stage had on Sunday. The Japanese metal band had plenty of theatrical kicks and punches onstage.

Stone Temple Pilots drew a massive audience that sang along to throwbacks "Plush," "Interstate Love Song" and "Vasoline." Though singer Scott Weiland died in 2015, the band's new singer Jeff Gutt fit right into the band with vocals similar to Weiland's throaty sound.

Tool headlined the night (and the entire weekend) with a massive performance to a full stadium. A vibrant light show engulfing the crowd in hues of blue and purple. Before they took the stage, the audience created a "wave" out of cell phone lights.
